For the last month I have been I have been playing with linking sites. In particular Blog catalog and Entrecard. It takes many hours a day to keep up with this linking madness. I found myself overly impressed with the number of links generated. I was impressed with my link rating and pushing my blog to the top of the heap. Today, I say “enough”! I am returning to my simple personal blog about my work.
I realized that many “readers” of my blog are caught up in this madness of personal promotion. The “honest” followers of my blog will stay with me and the “click and run” crowd with gradually disappear.
Many blogs and web sites are filled with rows of ads, group tags and testimonials. Social networking is out of hand! People are “Twittering” themselves into a frenzy of meaningless verbiage.

I’m ever so glad to hear it Sir. While the links you post are interesting enough, they cannot compete with the straight-forward presentation of your thought provoking work, expertly chosen quotes and erudite remarks. The Venus of Urbino is no more beautiful for any fur coat she may don. Am I suggesting a Bauhaus approach to blogging? It is always a great pleasure to see what you have whipped into being. Perhaps it’s a little decadent of me to expect it daily. Nevertheless I do, and not having heaps of accompanying links will not be a loss at all. Thanks for all of your hard work. TW

Thanks for you thoughtful response. I need an occasional “brain jolt” to clear the cacophonous gibberish from my cerebral cortex.
Less is more…The notion that simplicity and clarity lead to good design.
